This 3 part tutorial covers exporting a project from EDIUS as an AAF. AAF lets you take projects between programs. Unlike making a movie it lets you take the edit as a series of cuts which you can then re-edit and tweak. It is not perfect and looses most effects but is great for, for example, taking an edit from EDIUS to DaVinci Resolve for grading.
The same general principles as described in chapter 1 hold true for export to other programs like Premiere Pro and Avid Media Composer. The important question is what file formats will these programs support. Premiere Pro is almost as good at dealing with native format footage as EDIUS. Avid works best if you get the EDIUS DNxHD plug-in add-on.
AAF is not perfect and sometime it does not work. Here we look at one of the most common problems: mismatched frames rates in the footage used.
